Clean the gutters so that blockages don t create safe places for insects to get in through gaps between the fascia and attic.

After that maintain the situation by constantly using spider repellent. Insecticides that effectively kill spiders include carbaryl bendiocarb chlorpyrifos or any of the synthetic pyrethroids such as cypermethrin cyfluthrin and lambda cyhalothrin. Ground dwelling spiders nest in these areas using small holes during the day. Spiders like to hide in piles of old magazines dirty clothes junk and anything else that will provide them cover.

However you won t find peppermint listed as a repellent since we have not seen any data to suggest it will help.
